A video doorbell is one of the simplest, most useful security upgrades you can make. You see who’s at the door before you open it, answer from your phone when you’re out, and tell a courier where to leave a parcel.
But a lot of video doorbells end up badly placed, running on batteries that need charging every few weeks, or dropping off the WiFi because the signal doesn’t reach the front door. That’s where proper installation makes the difference.

Wired or Battery Video Doorbell?
Battery doorbells are easy to fit, but they need taking down and charging regularly, and some features are limited to save power. A wired doorbell runs permanently, never needs charging, and often responds faster when someone presses the button.
Wherever possible, we wire doorbells in using an existing doorbell circuit or a suitable power supply. If wiring isn’t practical, we’ll fit a battery model in the best position and make sure it’s easy to remove for charging.
Getting the Position and the Signal Right
The Right Angle
A doorbell mounted too high, too low or tucked into a deep porch can miss the visitor’s face entirely. We position it to capture faces, the doorstep where parcels are left, and as much of the path as possible.
Strong WiFi at the Door
The front door is often the furthest point from the router, behind thick walls or a porch. We check the signal before fitting, and if it’s weak, we’ll advise on the simplest way to strengthen it so the doorbell stays connected.
Motion Zones
We set motion zones so the doorbell alerts you to people approaching your door, not every passing car or pedestrian on the pavement.

Video doorbells can capture the street or a neighbour’s property, and if they do, data protection rules apply to you. We position the camera to focus on your doorstep and path, and use privacy zones in the app where they’re available, to keep the view on your own property.
