Business CCTV Designed Around Where Incidents Actually Happen
Most business CCTV problems aren’t about the cameras. They’re about cameras in the wrong places, recorders nobody knows how to search, and footage that’s too dark or too far away to identify anyone when it matters. A shop with a camera above the door but nothing on the till, or a yard with one camera covering the gate but not the vehicles, is paying for CCTV that won’t help.
We start with a free site survey. We walk the premises with you, ask where losses, incidents and disputes actually happen, and look at how staff, customers and deliveries move through the building. Then we design a system around that: cameras where they’ll capture faces, transactions and vehicles, recording that’s quick to search, and secure access so you can check the site from your phone.
Whether it’s a single shop, a restaurant with a busy back door, an office with a car park or an industrial unit with a yard full of stock, the approach is the same: the right coverage, nothing you don’t need, and a system your team can actually use.

Commercial CCTV Technology, Explained Plainly
You don’t need to know every specification, but it helps to understand what a modern system does for your business.
Clear Footage Day and Night
Many of the cameras we install record in full colour after dark, so you can make out clothing, vehicles and faces at night rather than grey shapes. Where colour night vision isn’t the right fit, infrared cameras give clear black and white footage in total darkness.
Smart Detection
Smart detection distinguishes people and vehicles from everything else. That means fewer false alerts, and it makes searching footage much faster: you can jump straight to every time a person entered the yard, rather than scrolling through hours of recording.
Recording and Storage
Footage records to a network video recorder (NVR) kept securely on site. We size the storage around the number of cameras, the resolution and how long you need to keep footage, so you’re not caught out when you need something from last week.
Remote Viewing
You can watch live footage and play back recordings from your phone, tablet or computer, from home or another site. Access can be given to named managers, and removed when someone leaves.
Our Equipment
Systems are built on professional-grade Hikvision equipment, with HiLook used where a simpler camera does the job. We’ll explain the options for your premises and recommend what fits, not just the most expensive model.
Business CCTV and the Law: Your Responsibilities
If your business records people on CCTV, UK data protection law applies. That doesn’t need to be complicated, but there are a few things you’re responsible for.
- Let people know recording is taking place, usually with clear signage at entrances and in covered areas
- Only record what you need for a clear purpose, such as security and crime prevention
- Keep footage secure and only for as long as you need it
- Be able to find and provide footage if someone asks for recordings of themselves
- Avoid recording areas where people expect privacy, such as toilets or changing areas
We’ll help you plan camera positions with this in mind, make sure signage is in place, and set up the system so footage is secure and easy to retrieve. Where a camera has to look across a neighbouring property or public space, privacy masking can block out that area so it’s never recorded. For detailed guidance, the Information Commissioner’s Office publishes advice for businesses using CCTV.
Combining CCTV with Door and Gate Access
CCTV works best alongside access control. Door access lets staff in with their own codes or fobs, so you’re not handing out keys, and you can remove access instantly when someone leaves.
Gate access controls who gets into the yard or car park, and cameras on those entry points give you a picture of every arrival.
We install door and gate access as well as CCTV, so the whole system can be planned and installed by one team, viewed from your phone, and supported by the same people afterwards.
Signs Your Business Needs CCTV, or an Upgrade
- Footage is too dark or too far away to identify anyone
- Finding a specific incident means scrolling through hours of recording
- Your recorder is old, full or no longer connects to an app
- Tills, stockrooms or back doors aren't covered
- You've had stock, tools or fuel taken from a yard or vehicle
- Staff disputes or customer complaints with no footage to check
- You don't have CCTV signage, or aren't sure what your obligations are
- You've taken over premises with a system nobody understands
Commercial CCTV Servicing and Aftercare
Every installation comes with a 1-year warranty as standard, with extended warranty cover available at an additional cost.
A business CCTV system needs to work when you need it, which is often months after it was installed. Our servicing visits check every camera’s image and angle, clean lenses, confirm recording is running and footage is being kept for as long as you need, and make sure remote access still works.
We also take over, service and upgrade systems installed by other companies. If you’ve moved into premises with an existing system, we’ll check what’s there and tell you honestly what’s worth keeping.
